CV and references

Susanne Cramer-Lamprecht was always far from being called a "child prodigy".

Born in the Ruhr region and coming from a family that had no contact with classical music, her path to becoming a professional violinist was significantly longer, more arduous and rockier than that of most of her colleagues.

She didn't hear classical music for the very first time until she was 12 years old, and she started playing the violin when she was 13, 6 to 9 years later than usual.

She completed her studies at the Detmold University of Music, Dortmund Department, and eventually got an engagement as 1st violin tutti at the Oberhausen City Theater in the Rhineland.

Only three years later, the company announced redundancies because it was closing its music operations.

Susanne Cramer went to Cologne to completely change her violin playing technique and to learn from scratch. At the time, already 29 years old, she took private lessons with Prof. Adolphe Mandeau (Folkwang University Essen) and Prof. Christiane Hutcap (now
Rostock University of Music).

During this time, she earned her living in the Germany-wide touring orchestra "Klassische Philharmonie Bonn" and as an intern at the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie Koblenz.

Finally, at the age of 33, she was employed at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich for two years.

Afterwards, she took the leap into self-employment.

She founded the musician placement agency Klassik nach Maß and continued to work with private teachers to perfect her violin technique and her musical creativity.

As a freelancer, she has repeatedly managed to participate in productions and concerts for independent organizers as well as in state orchestras, regional theaters and municipal theaters in other European countries.

These include the Nuremberg State Philharmonic, the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the State Theater at Gärtnerplatz Munich, the Regensburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Coburg State Theater and the Lower Bavarian Philharmonic Passau as well as studio recordings with the Munich Philharmonic.

From 1998 to 2011 she played numerous performances and many philharmonic concerts at the Nuremberg State Philharmonic, all as 2nd violin tutti.

In 2007, at the age of 45, she auditioned for a place in concerts and productions of the Tyrolean Symphony Orchestra Innsbruck and the Ulm Philharmonic Orchestra, which is very unusual.

Until 2011 she took part in the Philharmonic Concerts of the Ulm Theater and played first violin tutti in several opera productions.

In the first half of 2010, she fulfilled a temporary contract as 1st violin tutti with the Tyrolean Symphony Orchestra Innsbruck. She continued to play there in numerous symphony concerts until 2019.

She has participated several times with the Tyrolean Symphony Orchestra in the Klangspuren Festival for New Music in Schwaz/Tyrol.

In 2016 she briefly played as a substitute in the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra Durban/South Africa.

Solo performances, string quartet performances and concertmaster and section leader activities in independent productions are also part of her artistic work.

In recent years she has discovered her talent for reaching and inspiring audiences directly with violin karaoke, pop/rock and crossover. She has expanded her repertoire from classical to contemporary music. She has been responsible for the musical accompaniment at many weddings, dinners, company events, museum events and Christmas parties.

She made a professional restart after the Corona pandemic with the productions Walküre and Siegfried with the Lower Bavarian Philharmonic Orchestra Passau and as a new member of the Munich Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra DaCapo.

On December 3, 2023, she was concertmaster for the first time in her life in the sold-out Herkulessaal in Munich and played the first solo violin in Corelli's Christmas concert.

In the video, Susanne Cramer-Lamprecht talks about the project she has been preparing for between 2020 and 2022.
